For some reason my trans blows out fluid when the temp gauge runs a little on the warm side. It looks to be coming out around the front seal, or thereabouts. This only happens when the engine temp gauge goes to about the center of the gauge. The truck has the normal cooler in the radiator, and a separate (factory tow package) cooler in front of the A/C condenser. Everything is clean, no bugs, dirt, leaves, etc. The radiator has been replaced, as well as the fan clutch, upgraded fan from Ford (9 blades instead of 7), thermostat, water pump, etc. I have a infrared thermometer, and it doesn't indicate any abnormal temps at all. Otherwise this dang truck doesn't leak a drop of anything on the ground.
My 1994 F150 E4OD (5.8L) normally runs at "R" in NORMAL. This last weekend, I had the same episode after pulling a heavy trailer, air conditioning on, 95 F outside Temp and running 65-70 MPH up and down hills. When the temp goes up to "M" I start to worry, when it hits "A" I turn of the Air COnditioning. If it gets any hotter, I will puke transmission fluid out of the vent on the bell housing flange. What a mess.
My transmission is starting to shift funny. it has been 30000 miles since I changed all the fluid and filter. It will "Rattle" the drive shaft at low throttle positions while it is thinking about shifting. It also is shifting very hard, not like the smooth transmission it has always been. Anybody else experience this?
