Daytime running lights
1998 Ford Ranger, 4.0 litre.
The daytime running lights just recently starting staying on after the key is removed. The only way to stop from killing the battery is to disconnect the positive lead on the battery. Does anyone know if the DRL relay is the culprit? Where is it located and how can it be tested?
Thanks for your help.

Looking at this diagram, and from what little I have learned about them, the module takes power and runs it through some sort of step down circuit and then sends the lower voltage to the highbeam lights. Looking at the diagram above, you can see the DRL module gets it's power from a seperate fuse. If we assume yours does the same, I would look under the hood and see if you can find a fuse that would power the DRL. Some vehicles have the fuse box under the dash only, and some have one under the hood and under the dash both.
If you could figure out the fuse, I would pull it, and see if the problem went away. One thing this would do is keep from having to pull the battery + all the time, and second this would be a clue that it probably is the module that is bad. Sorry, but I don't know were the module is located.
