Ok Im thinking its time to change the stock seat to something a tad newer.. Does anyone here know what the easyest 60/40 bench will fit nicly in my 1960 f-100 .. it dont need to look stock , just fit and bolt in as painless as possable..
I remember a number of threads on this over the past year or two. Have you tried the advanced search function? It might add a lot of info to what you get on this thread.
Madathon- there are several posts in here on the subject if you do a search on the topic. I've heard from several people in here that a 90's and up Ford Ranger bench seat 60/40 works nicely. Another option is the Toyota pickup. Unfortunately with any non stock bench or seat, some modification is going to have to made. My friend has a 60 F100 like you and he recently put 98 F150 60/40 seats in with the power seats etc. The headrest do cover the back window slightly. The install wasn't to difficult.
I did the search and got the message that the server was busy.. so I ask .. .. Thanks imlower2 for the info.. I know it would be a drop it job.. just dont what to get one and find out it just wont fit .. Thanks..

I got mine out of a 90 Ranger for my F-3 but a 60 is wider so you you can probably use something out of a full size pickup. The Ranger bench seat is perfect for a 48-52. I was even able to modify the original 48 seat track and attach it to the Ranger seat. This make the seat the right height in front although I cut off about 2 1/2 inches at the rear to tilt it back and it mounts in the same original holes. I took some pictures of of it and the seat track mods but I guess it was too hot in my garage as the stupid film did not develop.
For my '51 I am putting the 60/40 seat out of a 96 Mazda truck, same as the Ford Ranger. I welded up a 1 inch 14 guage square tube frame to mount it, total overkill but the tubing is kinda fun to work with. It uses the original bolt locations in the floor. Pics in my gallery if you're interested. That reminds me someone wanted me to post measurements of it at one time but I forgot. I'll try to do so again without forgetting, but it is Friday and 7 hours to beer time.
I don't know how much wider a 60 is from a 51, but I think this 60/40 is a perfect fit side to side on the 51.
The GM bucket seats from 1999 - 2005 fit nicely. We are using a set from a 2003 C***Y Envoy. I really don't like putting GM stuff in our Ford, however the reason we chose these seats is they have a shoulder strap seat belt that is part of the seat, so once you mount the seat solidly to the floor, you have seat belts. Our cab is getting painted right now , when we get it back I will post some pics. The head supports do extend into the window area, but I think they look fine. There is about 8" between seats where we plan to build a console .
