I know how big a tire i can fit on my truck, wanna know which to use.
I have run the nitto terra grapplers since 14k (i have 60 now) and tires are about 75% worn in back, and 85% in front.....
right now I run a 315/75 on the stock 16x7" wheels.........Will be getting some 4.5" BS 16x10" wheels for the new tires.
Have narrowed it down to these (other suggestions very welcome) btw, my 35's are too small. too much fender gap!
Radial SSR (36x12.50x16)
TSL Radial (same size)
Truxes mud T/A 37x12.50x16 (they don't have a 36 for this)
I need something that works in the snow, rain, and mud, but sees mostly highway......Would be astounded if any tire ever got 50k!!!!! right now I feel lucky to have gotten 25 out of my current nittos.
Somewhat quiet would be nice...Ohh, I will NEVER own another BFG tire again, so count out the SITE favorite bfg A/T
i was thinking about putting bfg a/t's on my 06 as soon as i get it, ive had both a/t's and m/t's on my previous trucks, is there something about this size you dont like?
I manage a bodyshop, and in the last 14 years, i have replaced at least 25 bedsides due to tread seperation from bfg tires.........I have had two bfg tires seperate on my cars as well, not to mention the sidewalls are junk, and I still use my truck off road, and need some sidewall strangth for rocks......\
just a personal thing, Im sure others have seen bad things about other tires as well.........I run only Nitto on my mustangs, so I tried them on my truck. tread wear is very, very poor, and snow traction is an oxymoron with these tires.
anyhoo, btt!
somebody has experience with interco tires here!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know first hand that you can get over 50K miles with the BFG muds. The key is to rotate them every 6K miles or so. They are expensive in the size you're looking for though.
Radial SSR (36x12.50x16)
TSL Radial (same size)
Truxes mud T/A 37x12.50x16 (they don't have a 36 for this)
Da who's 'n what??? I've never hoide of any of deze three. I was hoping to be of some help, but all I'm doin' is sitting here laughing at myself cuz I don't recognize any of those 3 you have listed! Dowt!!!
I have the TrXus Radial M/Ts in 35x12.50-17E with a little over 6000 miles on them. They don't even look worn. Great traction in mud and very good in rain. Decent noise on the highway. My truck is a 2002 F350 PSD CC SB SRW 4x4. At the time I bought mine they didn't have a 37. Did they just come out with 37s?
the 37 is a new size......wish it was a 36, im sure it would fit better. glad to hear the rain is good as well, my only mud tire experience is the bfg, and they are utter garbage in the rain, and crap in the snow.....but in soupy mud........godlike.
I do not get into mud as much as i want to, but a few times a year i get into some foot, to foot and a half deep snot, and my current tires make me pucker up down below every time i encounter it.........have not got stuck yet, but it's just a matter of time.
thanks for sharing your experiences.........
someone else MUST have experience with the tires i listed........
I'm a Toyo guy now. Had Generals (poor tread design but cheap at Sam's Club), BFG's (ride hard as a rock and load up easily), and Goodyears (awesome ride, don't last past 35k miles and expensive).
Made some calls to the local "hardcore" guys and according to them a lot of guys are switching to Toyo's, either the AT's or MT's. Toyo currently has a 500 mile/45 day deal where if you don't like them you can turn them back in and someone mentioned they have a 50k mile warranty. Anyway, I sprung for a set of 33" AT's on Monday and they ride at least as good as the Goodyears, if not better.
I was after ability in snow, limited mud use, and running sand dunes.
I'm with dmp, Toyo's all the way. My folks have the MT's and I have the AT's. The MT's will NEVER see a dirt road on their truck (just got 'em to look good) and it rides VERY nice. I can't say how many miles they'll get out of them but I'm sure others will vouch for their durability. I got the AT's because they didn't get my MT's in on time and I needed tires bad.
My last set were Swamper SSR's (37x12.50x16.5). I got maybe 18-20k out of them at the most. They did alright on the road but off road they were great (rocks, mud, sand experience only, no snow) off road.
wow, i woulda figgered they would last longer than that!
no way im spending this much on tires for 18-20k........ heck i get that now, and the tires are 150 each......
I have a set of Toyo A/Ts. 5k on them. Very quiet for a 33" A/T, better ride than the BFGs I had before and exceptional in the rain. No problems on dirt, haven't seen mud yet.
I only have feedback from others on Interco tires but almost to a person everybody says great traction but difficult to balance abd it gets harder to do so as they wear.
i was incorrect about the mud grapplers!
apparently, Nitto now makes a 35" mud grappler for a 16" wheel, no to mention a 37 for 17, or 18" wheels.......
now, it's time to convince the wife we "need" these tires........of course, for 330 those Toyo mud tires in a 37" looked sweet too.............
I've run the tuxus M/T for a few years and have been very impressed with the versatility of the tire. It works very well in mud and snow and is the best mud tire I've ever run on the ice. Granted it won't be as good as an all terrain on the ice, but it isn't far off.
I've got 52,000 miles on a set, but those tires are under a 4500 lb Jeep, that sees 95% highway. I'll probably run them for another 6000 miles. I've put several sets of 35's on lifted superduty's and they seem to be wearing as good as anything else.
I'm running the Toyo MT on my diesel and am very impressed with ride quality, noise and wear. I've only had them for 7200 miles though.
