side mirror switch out

hi all, i have a 99f250sd,4x4,5.4L. i want to get the telescoping mirrors for my truck, right now i have the basic style manual mirrors. now my question, if i buy the power styly mirrors, could it be easily wired to work correctly? i know i can find a switch online for cheap enough. running wires is not a problem to me. i see that the harness on the mirrors has 3 wires.... would i need some relays to install? has anyone done this yet? thanks in advance !!

I went from small manuals to small power, although the wiring should be the same as what you are doing. No relays are needed, just get a ford switch, I bought mine on ebay for 9.50 including shipping. The colored wires on the switch matched the colors on the mirrors. Get a switch with a pigtail to make wiring it easier. The yellow or black wires on the mirrors tie together with the yellow on the switch, the others match color to color. The light green on the switch is power and the black is ground. My local napa had three wires moulded together which worked great for running the wires through the door. Good luck.

I don't believe any relays are involved.

one more question for you bill, i was just about to hook up my wires, and i noticed the yellow wire you talk about that splits into both mirrors.... then i have the 2 wires for each mirror, and a green power, and the black ground for the switch... now, i also have a green with yellow stripe coming from the switch.... do you know what that goes to? i bought the switch and woring on ebay, so it was just cut about a foot from the switch, and i have no idea what that wire is for.... thanks !!

The switch I bought only had 7 wires, sounds like you have 8. The green with stripe on mine was the power, I don't know what the other wire is for.
