Hello, well I have completed my introduction , so now I post a topic, Vehicle details:
2000 Ford Ranger std cab, 5 spd tranny, Rubber floor, Red paint, Grey cloth with a cigarette burn in each seat, 59,875 on the od, and a seized engine, Short version: I was driving the truck when the temp gauge went up to hot and then back down to the middle were it usually sits, then 5 hours later was driving and seen the oil pressure gauge go to peg and sit for a second, before falling to the bottom, at which time the engine stopped running and I attemptewd to bump start with no luck, Now the ESP says the engine is blown and they want recipts for all maintaince from 14,500 to current, can anybody help me with this one, I did change the oil at least every 3k-4k , but unfortunatly did not save the slips from each filter, Please help, i cannot afford to buy a new engine and esp wont honer the warranty without the slips. without your help i may have to go back to driving the s-10!!!!
I'm not sure how you're gonna convince them of your maintenance without receipts. If you bought your oil change supplies with a credit card or paid by check, you can probably reconstruct your records.
If you got your oil changes at the same place every time, then they may have a record of your visits. I know Wallyworld is computerized and could probably pull records if they wanted to. Otherwise, good luck. Maybe you should just make a hobby out of your ESP until they decide fixing your truck is their easiest way out. Give 'em heck.
I just wanted to thank those of you that replyed to my mishap, quick update reads that they removed the engine and found a little bit of debris at the bottom of the pan and also found the pick-up line had a touch of debris stuck in it, so i dont know what esp will do now, but I think the best advise I got was to give'm heck, till they deside the easiest way out is to fix my truck, .
I know this all sounds fishy, Crap if someone told me the same stuff I am explaining i would have said they never changed their oil!.
Fact is I own an accesories shop and , I've got the lift and I am fully cappable of changing the oil, which i did, But I bought the filters for my truck in bulk from ebay about 3 years ago and I have no record of the transaction and cant find the guy who sold them to me, I sent him a money order so I have no recipts. The truth is I didnt want to tell the world that I bought 24 oil filters from ebay, since ebay is pretty much whats keeping my shop slow, . Anyways thanks for the advise again, and I guess that .50 cents per filter 3 years ago just grew to about $208.33 per filter today, thanks to the fact that I do not have the recipts!, Another lesson learned!
I'd email Ebay and ask them to check their records and hopefully identify the seller for you. Ebay should maintains business records; here in WA, state law requires that they be maintained for seven years.
On one of the other threads, there is mention of a ford service bulletin re: breakdown of a silicone sealant used by Ford in engine assembly that is known to stop up the oil pump screens, which may apply to your engine. I don't remember the thread, but it was in the Ranger section. You will have to search for it using "oil pump", etc.. Good luck.
, i will look into it. I have never had so much trouble with anything like this. I was told that the investigater could go either way with this, but without proof of maintinance it would be a definate no. I going to look into it now, thanks for the info.
If you kept records nothing more than a small note book with date of service what was done and mark down info with your initials each time is more than enough proof even you have to take them to small claims court...
I have been told to pick up my truck and pay bill asap, I have retained counsil, i mean **** i paid almost 3gs for the policy and they wont cover the damage, screw it ya know? Thanks for the input and keep watching as soon as i find the loop hole i'll let you guys know what you have to do to get ESP to pay up.
Be sure that you keep a written record of all of your communications. Ask the dealer to give you a written notice to pick up the truck and pay the bill. Your attorney will thank you. Good luck.
