New to the board so forgive me if this already has been discussed. The blower for heat, A/C only operates on high speed. I've replaced the control panel with no changes. Was asked if there was a blower or fan relay. I said I didn't know and went to PEP Boys to see if I could buy one, but they seem to think there isn't one. And the local Ford dealership is no help unless I bring it in so they can "check it out" for a fee. Any thoughs? '96 Explorer XLT w/ V6

Older versions of our trucks used a resistor network that is installed usually to the right of the blower under the hood. Mine, an '83, had a load of leaves and crud piled up inside the blower box and caused the resistor network to burn out. It is a simple replacement if Ford left it alone. I've seen newer vehicles that have elaborate blower control systems that cost big bux to work on. Hopefully, your Ford uses the resistor network like mine. Good luck!
My network is about 1 foot to the right of the blower. It has 2 plugs connected to it, and is held to the blower box by 2 screws. When you get it out, it has several coils on it that you see after removing it. There is also a thermal switch on mine. That is what was wrong with mine. High-speed only.
I just changed my blower motor resistor this evening. The old one was really corroded once I got it out, and my wife said that she smelled something burning when we drove to MI last weekend.
AutoZone and NAPA said it was a dealer only part, so I had to go to Ford. Only $17.00...SHOCKED that a dealer part would be that inexpensive.
The OEM Part Number is 4L3Z-19A706-AA. I couldn't find this anywhere in the forums, but maybe I mis-typed it in the search. HTH.
