Painted grille
I really like the look of the painted grille on the EX, but of course my '01 has the regular chrome one. I spoke to my brother-in-law who owns a collision shop and he said it would be difficult to paint over the plastic chrome even with a lot of prep work. I need to get a new grille that is either ready to paint (black primer finish), or get one that is already painted with my trucks color which is Deep Wedgwood Blue. I know for a fact that Ford offered this color on colored grille vehicles, but I am not sure what years it was/is. Does anyone know what years this color was offered, or where I can get a grille that is ready to paint.

Your bro-in-law is right. I'm not for sure but I think they started with the painted grills in 03 an up EB's and Limited's.... I think. But I'm not sure if they kept that color. I think I saw an 04 EB with that dark blue two tone. Go to the dealer parts dept and ask them

You could buy a Super Duty grill from an XL trimmed truck and paint that. It'll make it look a little meaner and will be easier to paint than the egg crate grill.

Well, I did it. I purchased a SD painted grille on e-bay for ~$30, and had my brother-in-law paint it to match my body color. What do ya think?
