Well I have been having a difficult time while attempting to swap my engine control module for my 2000 F-150. I bought a used engine control module to replace my old one since it is completely screwed up, however, every time i install it the anti theft key mechanism will not allow me to start the car. I can put the old engine control module in and starts no problem, but when replaced the anti theft device does not allow me to start the car. I guess the computer thinks that i am trying to steal the car when i put in the new engine control module. I wanted to know if anyone could please help me overcome this problem since it is becoming a headache, and i really don't want to take it to the dealer just yet.
Thank you.

Unfortunately, You may have to take it to the dealer. Although, maybe not the whole truck. You are correct in that the new module thinks you are trying to start the truck with the wrong key. As far as the module is concerned, it is the wrong key. Take the module to the dealer with your spare key, (hopefully you have that), and see if they can "flash" the module and program it to YOUR key. Then when you get it installed, you should be able to also program it to your other key.
That or check the place where you bought the control modual and see if they have the original keys, but then you would have to rekey the whole truck. Nevermind.
