Ignition module swap

I'm having issues with my '78 F-250 460 and it's tendency to quit on me. I suspect the ignition module as I've had it fail before. I have a '78 F-150 with a small block in it, will the module interchange with mine? I just want to try it to see if that solves the problem?

Look where the wires go into the module. There will be a rectangle plastic piece. If this is the same color on both modules, then they will interchange. Both are more than likely blue.

They are in fact blue as you said. I swapped them but there was no change in my situation, which at this point is no spark and no start. I did find both plugs on the harness which connect to the module badly cracked and deteriorated. Good chance thats it.
There was a previous thread mentioning what the voltages are at various spots like solenoid, coil etc. I'll look for it to do some more troubleshooting. Very frustrating as I was getting excited about camping.

Dwayne,
I've just gone through several months of this issue with my '76 390. I replaced the module, still quit and I tried the coil and many other things. Ended up it was the harness itself. The short was in the harness traveling into the distributor from the last connector on the main harness. We ended up bypassing the distributor connector and just hard wiring the harness to the distributor. Its ran with no issues yet for the last two weeks. Take a close look at the harness and test the continuity of the wires if you can. Good luck!

I ran through a number of electrical tests I found on the autozone site, including coil, stator, continuity etc. and was baffled. I reviewed the wiring diagram in the Chilton book and saw on it the ignition connections shown on the starter solenoid. To make a long story short, and I'm embarrassed to admit, the problem turned out to be my spare battery isolating solenoid. It connects to my starter solenoid and it was shorting across 2 of it's terminals, which was causing my ignition circuit to ground. Once I disconnected the spare battery isolating solenoid it fired right away.

Simple things cause lots of grief.
