Ive got a 93 ford explorer and im trying to change the fuel filter on it and i cant get the old one off. Do i need one of those tools that i read some fords need. Also any other help or tips would be much appreciated.
Do you have the new filter & does it look like this?
If so, does it have those milky white clips?
If the answer is still yes I simply put a flat screwdriver between the pointy tip of it & the line & pried it off (it comes with replacements so I was not worried about hurting the old ones).
My truck is a gen 1, that is why it "may" be different, just trying to help.
& yes, I am in the middle of a write up from when I did mine 2 weeks ago
My EX is a 96 and changing the fuel filter does require the special tool that is relatively cheap. The fuel connection will have a round cone shaped fitting that the tool simply slides into and releases the fuel filter. Usually the force require to insert the tool into the fitting will usually be enough to push the hose off the filter. It helps to push the fitting towards the filter while inserting the tool. Don't forget to bleed the fuel pressure first.
