I don’t know why they mix and match, I agree that can be annoying. But the metric system is wonderful. All major units are divisible by 10 to get the next smaller unit. It really makes allot of sense. That's why it's the preferred system in science and the most widely used system in the world. Once you get used to it, the imperial system seems crazy to say the least. I mean there are 1000 meters in kilometer, but 5280 ft in a mile? The imperial system is full of this kind of arbitrary nonsense.
Thats what i'm tryin to say here is why both its just a pain to pick out the set that you're going to use for the job just to find out that its the other one there's no reason why it should be this way

the reason is to "slowly" start making all things in metric, this is for several reason, 1 is the rest of the world is metric. this started in the late 70's and every time they change body styles it seemes they add more metric bolts each time. just has a point, anyone know the U.S. unit for mass with out lookin it up
My brother has a body shop and when I'm over there, I can't find wrenches to use on my old John Deere because almost everything he uses is metric. I put a water pump on my 3800 Buick the other day and the bolts holding it on were 1/2 SAE and half metric. Why they would do this is beyond me because they were all threaded into the same part.
