I have a bronco with the D44 front from a '77 F-150. As I was topping of fluids, gear oil was running out from the knuckle on the drivers side. Somehow I thought there was a seal at the end where the knuckle is so that the tube has oil in it too, but I guess there is only supposed to be a seal on either side of the carrier in the pumpkin. My question is, what does that seal look like? I bought two from a parts store and the inside diameter is 2" and I can think that it is correct. I would think the seal would have to be the same inside diameter as the axle shaft and the same outside diameter as the housing tube. Can anyone shed any light? Also what are the torque specs for the carrier bearing cap bolts? Is there anything else that needs torqued?
TIA!

I got the info I needed. No one at any parts store could get me the right parts, but my dad had a Dana/Spicer catalog and gave me a Chicago Rawhide number of 13165 and that cross references to Timken 5131. Got 'em in last night and reinstalled the carried and cover. Tonigh she'll go back together and get fresh oil.
Sorry I didn't see this before but, I found one at Napa and the Bronco graveyard has them along with pictures. They can be pulled and installed with a slide hammer. I just went through the same thing.
No sweat chief, I got it all back together no there are no leaks! I don't have a slide hammer, but I drilled out one hole and put a metal screw there and it came right out. Then a short piece of 2" tube worked great to install.
That's a good idea. I don't know if I would have eventually thought of that or not. I did scratch my head on the matter for a couple of days before actually digging it out though.
