1. Pinks, well holy you know what. You can walk across the water right now. The females that I caught tonight were still bright and the meat was red. Males were, what else hummpy but the meat was good in 1/2 of them.
2. SILVERS. Being caught from the Narrows out to Hitchenbrook Entrance. Shouldnt be to much longer. Silver derby starts the 30 or 31 of this month.
3. Halibut. We 325 is the fish to beat for the $15,000 prize. Time shall tell.
Hopes this is informative for those that like to come down here. As I hear more I will update this thread.

Isn't that a little early for Silvers? I was thinking that we use to go down at the end of August or the first part of September. I know the shores are lined with dead pinks around then.
I am doing a little work on our 14' boat just in case my other plan for a bigger boat falls though. We will be down for Silvers one way or another.
Made it as far as O'Brien Creek last weekend and even managed to find a parking spot! It took only 4 hours and had all the reds I could use. They were not as bright as the early season fish, but then the freezer those salmon still look good.
I'm just passing on what I have heard. As I get more information I will update this. Talked with some commerical fishermen today. Their sonar are showing the pinks at 40 feet deep. That the size of the swarm not the depth they are located at. Man there is alot. Estimates are around 5,000,000 left in the bay. Might want to wait until most of them are gone. Trolling for silvers and all you are going to get is pinks. Total estimate are just over 20,000,000 pinks. Close to record year.
Yep silvers are usually at a later time. Of course the pinks were 2 weeks early this year arriving. I see them (silvers) swimming up the creek in my backyard when the snow is flying.
Well according to our local paper the silvers are out in the Sound right now with a very few being caught at the City Dock. Thats a quote from some of the Charter Boat Captains.
Broke 1,000 miles on my new F250CC Lariat PSD last weekend coming to Valdez. Needless to say, love the truck. I went from an '03 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi to this and was a bit worried about how my back would feel driving a 3/4 ton 360 miles, but no problem, it's a great ride!
We went out Saturday and Sunday and the 3 of us limited out with 18 silvers both days in a matter of 4 - 5 hours. Trolling at 45-65 feet between Feemantle and Sawmill.
Thought I'd give my $.02, this is a great forum!
Coming down the next few weekends to fill the freezer...FISH ON!
6Coho just passed on that the Silvers are here. Your respond confirms it. I havent seen any yet at the Hatchery. My moonlight job. '

Waiting to see if anyone will break the 325 Halibut this year.
Am I totally confused or are the Silvers several weeks early this year. We have not made it down for two years but I thought we use to go down at the end of August not the beginning. Must be old age setting in.
The Silver Derby ends the 4th of September and starts the end 30th of July. Those are the dates for the past few years, give or take a few days. I think most people wait until the middle to later part when the fish are more abundent. As soon as I see them at the hatchery I will let the "Thread" know.
Not sure if they are early this year. I do know that the pinks are 2-3 weeks early. I have been hearing the the silvers are a little early but no confirmation on that.
Yes the Silvers are here. 15.85 is the leading fish for now. Worse off is the fact that the pinks are still here. Many alive and pew wee many dead ones. Record year for pink return. We were driving from a fire call and hit a puss green one with the fire truck. Someone dropped it in the middle of the road. Still try to get the smell off. Man love that stinch. As for the Hatchery. A small amount have made it up the ladder. Most are still out in the bay. Fish On.
Well the silver are kinda here. Went fishing yesterday with my oldest but we left early due to the rafts of floating-dead-smelly pinks. I havent heard of too many people catching them on the shore at Alison Point. Same goes for City side. Still here of them being caught out in the narrows location.
As for the pink. Man they are still here. Alot of live ones and many more dead ones. Glad I live 12 miles out of town.
Some guy caught a 345lb shark a few days ago. I guess its a world record holder due to all of the rules that have to be followed.
Havent seen any one top the 325 lb halibut yet. See quite a few hight 200s this year.
