Yes it will work fine. You need to swap two wires to make the washer work. I have a '86 setup in my '73. The pickup harness has a two part plug, the smaller plug is two wires, swap the two wires and it will work great.

I guess I was under the impression it stayed the same through the mid '90's but I could be wrong... Any one know for sure?

The original poster can use a control system from a 77-78-79 without any alterations.

He can use earlier systems with minimal alterations.

AFAIK,The 86 & up were re-designed.

There is an article in the tech articles area.

According to Motorcraft.com the wiper/washer switch, and the wiper washer govenor, will interchange with 1980 to 1986 and 1987 to 1991 baseline f-series pickups. and 1991 to 1999 F-series trucks, select F-600 and above.

So changing the wires around in the small plug like the other poster said, should work for you fine.

Motorcraft Part # SW-1572-A - wiper switch,
Motorcraft Part # SW-2259 for the govenor.

Hope this helps,

i am not positive, but i am pretty sure you have to move the black with white stripe over one position in the 2 pin plug to get the washers to work.
let me see if i can find the wireing update on the falcon site, and if i can, i will get back to you. it is on the tffn forum

I have sold many of these setups off of 80-86 for the 73-79 they work great.
(80-86)
When hooking this unit up the 2-wire connector for the washer has a green wire with a black stripe and a white wire with a black stripe the GREEN wire has to be on the terminal for the washer to work. The 2-wire connector will go on either way.
