Our new 5th wheel is awesome, but it's a heavy monster. I have 3.73 gears in my truck currently and am going to regear it really quick. I was leaning towards 4.56's but then this past weekend someone mentioned 4.88's.
Anyone out there running 4.88's with 35" tires? I know around town it's going to be an animal, and my regular driving gas mileage might go down a bit, but I would be expecting the towing gas mileage to increase slightly. But who knows.
Don't be surpised if your fuel milage goes up with the 4.88s with those 35" tires. Make sure you get your speedo/odo calibrated before you start the math though or else you'll be disapionted because of the differences. Although the gear change may bring the speedo/odo back to where the reading is more accuate than it was before.
I don't know how often you're going to tow that rig, GloNDark, but I'd have to get the 4.88's. It'll be there when you need it...
Well summer time it's pretty much every other weekend. And any weekend I'm not pullin that, I'm most likely pullin my 69 FJ40 on the trailer anyway. I'm really leaning towards the 4.88's but I was just curious if anyone had an first hand experience on it.

The recalibration is ONLY NEEDED for the tire size!
