Home Tuning

Maybe this has been asked or maybe not allowed to be asked but does anybody tune on there own. The reason I ask is because my buddy has a Chevy and he has found two people within the Chevy forum that will do tunes for cheap. I do not mind spending the $400 on a tuner, its just that I do not know how to use the thing. Shift points, air/fuel mixture, you might as well been talking Martian. They all seem to have the 3 popular tunes which seems fairly simple to "plug and play" but with me not understanding the tuner completely it just seems like a very expensive toy.

Tuners are made for people who don't know, or don't want to fool with complexities. You simply plug them in and select the octane you're using... and go! The programs already loaded in the tuner have optimal settings (for most people) already pre-programmed.

The extra settings are there for those who want to play around with them, they aren't required.
