newbie free modifications?

as some may know, i just picked up a 2002 f-350 with the PSD. im undecided on wether to mod the engine or not, i like the 16.1 mpg im getting now. i also want to save up some money for a new quad i want to get. but could you all here please tell me some things that i can do that are free or cost little money to get some extra power out of my truck? (or increase mileage) tonight looking through i saw the CCV mod, and the "disconnecting the red line to the turbo".

if anyone can give me a link or explain the benefits and disadvantages to some modifications i can do. its much appreciated.

do you think i should mod my truck out or spend it on a $7k quad? i really want to ride again, but i love how a banks'ed 7.3 sounds with an air intake. i was planning on a kit from blackclouddiesel. -f i were going to get a kit. maybe a tuner, gauges, intake and exhaust and leave it at that. i heard if i drive conservatively, i can actually increase mileage with performance parts installed. please help!

I have a used 2002 F-350 as well, Lariat 4x4

I just am in the process of adding the Banks Monster exhaust system, 4" and an Airaid Intake.
I bought a Ford Extended warranty and will probably holdoff on any chips/tuners for awhile, but I like to think I will purchase the Banks 6-gun tuner for it in the near future.

good luck!

well youre gonna get a hundred replies and they are pretty much all gonna be the same because we all think the same on here. get gauges first, boost, pyro and tranny blackclouddiesel, dieselmanor are all good sites to get them from. i personally have the banks monster exhaust it does sound good but it is $$$$, there are cheaper ways out there im sure someone can fill you in on that part. as far as an intake goes, do a search on the kwik filter and tymar, very cheap and awesome filters, i have the kwik filter. tuner or chip the big debate. diablo predator or bully dog for a tuner, jody tipton at dp-tuner.com he is the man when it comes to chips and economy. personally i am going to get a chip from jody when i have a lil extra $$$ layin around. hope this helps ya, if ya have any questions dont be shy, everybody on this site will be glad to help you.

I second the Kwik mod, filter is about $19.00.
Get part #46637 from fleetfilters, a sponsor here.
I "feel" more power and get maybe 2 mpg better.
It allows the engine to breathe better.

Also, do a search on the 18k mod, it might be something you would want, parts cost about a dollar.
