bed liner for f150
#16
I had a drop in, wasn't overly impressed with it. Things slid around easily compared to a spray in. I did find a stop sign under it when I pulled it out though.
I put a Duplicolor spray in liner in my first truck, and it flaked and peeled of after about a year. We can get an Armaguard liner here, which I believe is similar to a Rhino liner. They get sprayed on 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch thick and are tough as nails.
What I have in my truck right now is a 2 piece deal that was in it when I bought it. The box sides are done in aluminum checker plate and the bed floor is covered by a rubber mat. Probably has the same problems as a one piece (floor rust and all) but man does it ever hold. Leave the cap off an oil jug and not have to worry about spills it holds so good. Well, maybe thats a bit of an overstatement, but you get the point.

i did the roll on liner from walmart about 2 months ago i used 2 gals for my short box 88 f 150 before i rolled it on i sandblasted the bed to bear metal to make sure it would hold....and have moved lots of rock and lots of outher stuff have had no problems... those plastic bedliners suck because everything will slide in them... but thats just my 2 cents.....

What i really hate about drop in, or plastic, bedliners is that over time they rub against the paint on the bed sides and mar it up really bad. this happened to my previous truck and the Ford that i drive now. the local shops who preached that drop in bedliners were superior said that this could be prevented with pads/liners or some other kind of backing on the underside of the bedrail part of the liner, however, in my experience, most trucks that i have seen with drop in bed liners suffer from this same abrasion and have scuff marks in the paint.
call me a stickler, or **** retentive, but it breaks my heart to see my beautiful truck with the paint rubbed off the top of the bedsides.
now, its out and im waiting to afford a spray in liner.
i can say from experience that Line X is the best spray in liner for the money. i have seen Line X stand up to a lot of things, not the least of which being shot at (a 1" thick test piece that the local Line X boys showed off) ive worked on cars with Line X sprayed on the floor pans, the underside of hood and trunk lids, in engine compartments, and even on the rocker panels of jeeps, VW Things, and other off-road vehicles. It stands up to abuse very well.
My vote, Line X!

Plastic liners are ok if you need one....but it leaves wear spots where the liner goes over the bed rails. Not good mine has lines down the bed now where it rubbed for a few years now. Id go with rhino, about 400 bucks though but its very tough and you can specify not to go over the rails so you can run a topper.

The Rhino dealer in my area quoted me 385.00 to spray my shortbed, that does not include the rails, Thats another 85.00 if I want that done. The thickness is 1/4". Is this close to what others have paid or been quoted? I haven't found a LineX dealer in my area yet if there is one to compare with. THX MoJo
