Lengthening Frame

Lengthening Frame
I am looking at some late 80's early 90's frames for my crewcab swap. From what I can tell they are about the same width, 37", as trucks through the 70's, so a swap to them should be no problem. What I can't find is one that is the right length. There are plenty that are the 133" wheelbase, but I would like one that is 139". If I could find a supercab frame it would probably be right.
Could I lengthen a 133" frame about 6"? The rear spring hanger would then rest on the extension. Or, does this fall into the same category of cutting a frame in the middle to shorten it, as in it won't be strong enough to hold the rear spring. Even though people do it.
FYI. I am interested in the late 80,s for the IFS 4x4, 351 efi, overdrive tranny and other later model technology.
Thanks, Matt
