99 vs 04

We had a 1999 Expedition. When we purchased the 1999 Vehicule, we just requested a large motor. What size???? This Vehicule was GREAT and FAST. The get up and go was AWESOME. It had MAJOR power everywhere, we actually had to make a concenence effot to refrain from speeding.
So we purchase a new 2004 Expedition, same request large motor (5.4?)
The power on our new Expedition is no where to be found, it can hardly get out of it's own shadow.
Is there anything we can do, to get some gitty up back into this vehicule?

Also did Ford make a larger motor in 99 for this Vehicule?

Thanks

Rick

in 2005 they added a new 300 hp 3v triton engine. you have the standard 2v 5.4 engine the same as your 99. what gear ratio did the 99 have and what does the current one have that will play a huge difference. are you running oversize tires?

The 2003+ Expedition is also 300 lbs. heavier than a comparable 1999 model.

Standard Tires on both Vehicules

I think the 99 had the 5.4 Trition Motor??

Gearing ??????????????? the 05, is slower off line and slower at top end. What it feels like is a 5.4 compared to the 4.6, I've checked the motor twice????????

Around town it fine, it's just too slow to tow our Boat.

If I had to guess the HP dif, it would be about 75 HP differance in behind the wheel compare.

300# shouldn't make that much dif, but shoot, I've put on 20# also............

Yes, the 05 has the tow package and the 99 did not.......it was stock,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Man, I just can't believe the gearing would make that much dif. Also, If it was geared lower for towing, I would think it would be quicker off the line.......the 05 is slower all around..............

I guess I need to quit beechin, I have an 04 6.0 Diesel that throws the boat around like it isn't there when towing...........we had one more person with us, so we took the Exp.

I just got the tow package on the 05 Exp, just in case we ever tow with her........last week was the first and probally LAST time, that I tow with her..
