2005 or 2006

We are looking in to a newer ford 350 4x4 crew cab long bed
more apt to go with the diesel as we do alot of pulling of a trailer and are buying a new 5th wheel.and yes we use the 4 wheel drive
I am a bit overwhelmed trying to read ALOT of these posts so since there is the sale going on I would like to hear what you think would be the best option...

is the newer engine better

and what about the transmission

I believe the 2005 and 2006 models are the same PSD engine. It also uses the same Torqueshift tranny.

Go for the best deal. I think the 6.0 is the same in 06 as 05. My 05 is great. If I would have waited until this year to buy, I would have chosen the 05 for the better price. I paid alot back in October.

What about in comparison also to the 99 F350 diesel powerstroke engine 190,000 we had to replace the tranny but they were alot of hard miles on the truck

from what the dealer told me yesterday the differences between the 05 and the 06 are only minor accessory changes.

there are however huge differences between the 99 and the 05's

Would you say better or worse for hauling purposes from the 99 to the 05 /06 models then

id go with the 05, especially since they have the friends of ford pricing going on now. I just picked up my 05 350 psd lariat sc sb fully loaded for 40 out door, and the msrp was 50,295. There was an 06 exactly like it but in black "mines blue" but they wouldnt budge on that price. same truck, the only difference is a number.

I have never driven a 99 so I am in no way an authority. However, based on what I have read on here, the 6.0 is hands down the better option for torque and HP. I know that my 05 Super Duty is solid as a rock when it comes to stability in towing too. Once again though, I have never driven a 99.
