Transmission Shift Plate
My '66 F250 has a 3 speed on the floor with a granny gear. Shifting it from 1st to 2nd is an adventure because the plate that guides the shift lever is broken ... does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
Already checked out Carpenter's, JC Whitney, and the catalogs. I think this might be a junk yard search unless y'all have some other ideas.

POst your info off the serial number plate and we can tell you what tranny you have. What you have is a 4 speed tranny, not a 3 speed. If it's a New Process 435, reverse is over and down. A Warner T-98 is over and up. 99% of the time you don't need 1 st gear to start in. Just use 2nd to start out. 1st just winds the snot out of it.

Barry ... thanks for your reply. I've got the new process 435 tranny and I almost never use the granny gear. Do you know of any after market linkage for this transmission that would fix the shifting problem?

You can still get the little 1/4 inch pin from your local Ford dealer. If you pull the lever oput, make sure you do it in nuetral and the tires blocked. It's easier to remove that way. The cap on top that locks the shift lever in may also be worn out.
