Can idle RPMs be adjusted?

Currenlty my Expedition idles about 1000 rpm or so when stopped at a light witht the brakes on. I was wondering if it is possible to have this adjusted to a slightly lower level so it doesn't move so fast after releasing the brake.

Supposedly, idle speed is governed by the engine's computer. Unlike the good/bad old days of carburetors, there's no provision for a mechanical adjustment of idle speed. You may have a mechanical issue such as a malfunctioning IAC (Idle Air Control) solenoid or a bad throttle position sensor. Wonder if a little carbon build up might be keeping the throttle plate from completely closing at idle?
