trac bar, on an 18 month old truck, with 60k ?
how do guys get 5 years and 200k out of em?
know of anyone that sells urethane bushings for a stock trac bar?
fwiw, i have the dual stabilizer on order, my bilsteins are here, tires are at 55 psi now........... still has death shake as bad as ever. (shocks are NOT installed yet.....all i changed was tire pressure).
I am having a local alignment shop check my balljoints, steering box, tie rods, and install my shocks today at lunch..........they do ALOT of lifted trucks (right next door to a 4 wheel parts store, and they don't do alignments...).
figure, I better have someone other than myself look at it! Heck, maybe i missed something.......
will post later today, or thursday about the findings.
Have them check the caster. It is the number one problem that causes death wobble. I am not sure what the Ford spec for your truck is, on average you should have around 4 to 6 degrees.
funny, I did not see anything wrong with em, glad I had a pro check em out! Other thing thats funny, the stealership checked em not long ago (500 miles?) and said they were fine.
(BTW, shop is owned by a freind, and knew if they were bad warranty was covering)
anyway, getting ready for a warranty battle, since my truck is lifted, im sure they will attempt to deny this problem....... 2600 dollar warranty was trash i guess.
anyway, whats a good argument if this is denied?
i could have a 4k cab over on the thing, with stock suspension and that would be harder on ball joints, no?????
or tow a 12k trailer.......

The argument could be that they go bad on many super duty's they are just too small for the truck and don't allow for greasing.
Oversize tires is whats helps degrade balljoints and bearings lift has little to do with it.
Also rims with wrong offset.
I took my truck in 2 days ago for the same thing but it happened when I was towing my 30' fifth wheel. It scared my whole family, but without incident. The dearlership told me the Tie Rods and drag link were wore out, but I only have 45000 miles, just FYI
CHuck
I've had the death wobble at two different times over the last several years. The first time was caused by not enough caster after lifting/modifying. The other time was caused by worn / out of balance tires. Tried several other things first, but as soon as I replaced the front tires, it disappeared. Get the tires balanced and see if it reduces it or if it goes away.
I mysteriously had a VERY slight wobble slowly appear (Ive experienced death wobble, this was same thing just very minor) and upon investigation my track bar bracket on the frame was loose. Took the bolts out one at a time and loc-tited them and its been great ever since. I have an 8'' lift and 15.50'' wide tires. Drives as good as it did stock when brand new.
Im having the same problem but a little different. I have a 89 F350 4x4 7.3IDI non turbo with a 6 inch lift 37 inch ssr and a dana 60 up front. Im good untill i get around 35-40 miles an hour then i get the DEATH wobble. It clears up with speed after 40 i can go up to 90 or more and its great. What is the problem with this ole girl???
Thats a good point. I have dual stabilizers but there far from new and the super swampers are like in new shape but i got the used so who knows if the bands are good. The call for 65 pounds of air thats scary. Thanks for your reply.
