My dad has some Yokohama Geolanders(I think, it's something with a G) and they performe great, work real good on wet roads, good for hard cornering, good even tire wear, and leave some pretty good black marks on the road lol.
G78-15? This is a light half ton, right? I'd still suggest you weigh each axle, either with maximum load or weigh then do the math to add that much load. Just make sure your tires are rated to carry more than you'll ever put on them, and make sure they have plenty of air.
BTW, I have some 225/75R-15 tires in Load Range D, that I got from Les Schwab --- but they are trailer tires on my car hauler.
Talk to a few savvy tire guys, to find what sort of performance substitution you can make. But I don't suggest reducing diameter.
most aftermarket rims are rated for about 2,000lbs. unless you have slotted billet rims which are barely rated to hold a honda. but if you don't plan on using your truck to haul heavy loads. then your choice should be fine.
On the way home from work about 5yrs ago, I got on the turnpike at about 5:00pm. It was hot as hell that day. I got the truck up to about 80 mph. Stupid! Considering the tires on the truck were original from factory and dry rotted like "beef jerky". All of a sudden front left tire explodes wraps around suspension here I go across the median. And I thought I was going to die in this ford truck! Semi truck coming at me I yanked on the wheel to the right, went back across the median and creamed an aluminum sign that read Keep Off Median! Wow what a ride! After I pryed my *** loose from the seat and fingers from the wheel, I ascessed the damage to my baby Front end wasted and bed rail damaged from the sign going over my truck. I said to myself I'm not pay for this sign put it gear and hauled *** flat tire and all! 45mph no problem!! I went and bought new tires the next day. I just thought everyone might like to know what an aluminum sign would do to an f250 truck. Mangled bumper, hood, both fenders! Thanks and sorry for the long post!
