i'd have to say that it is more than likely that out of several million ford truck owners, somebody else has done it. i know i did in my 67 back in high school and i can't imagine i invented the idea. hawkrod
I saw one a few months ago on the web somewhere in an 60's model F100 with a 429 in it. It was a humdinger (can I say that here?...) of a modification....built out of an aluminum sheet metal frame and covered with black diamond tufting. The guy who had it had his gauges mounted in it and it was sloped from the dash down to where his bucket seats were. Had a center mounted automatic shift lever, too...
Sorry, I can't remember the web address, but it CAN be done....
It depends on what kind you want - I picked up an aftermarket that just sits on my bench seat. It works really well for what I need it for. Have a look in my gallery for a picture of it.
I always say, "why build it if it has already been built."
Keep it Rubber Side Down!
Okay, thank you all for the suggestions. I want to build one of my own that is totally original in it's own. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips. That is whay the post was asking if anyone has done it. I was thinking Oak, with a raised top that the manual shifter came up through with a rubber boot. Then I want driver and Passenger cup holders in the front. I was then going to put in two wing style doors behing the shifter and install my CB in one and my after market stereo that I have in the box not opened because I don't want to screw with the original stock AM Ford radio in the the other slot.
I have a drawing or two on my computer that I have drawn up, however, i am not having a easy time attaching them. I have added it to my galley please take a look in there to see what you think. Oh, I drew it out on MS Paint, so it is far from perfect, but I think you wil get the idea.

In high school I made one out of plywood, screwed it to the floor with metal brackets. It was cut to the contour of the floor, had cup holders, speakers and a covered compartment. And was all covered with padding and naugahyde (sp?) -fake leather. Cost about $20 for the materials and I was very happy with it. Sorry no pics though.
I approve of the idea about a prototype of card board. I think I will start there.
I am currently trying to get my Btm image into a Jpeg, and get it on my gallery, but I think I am going to have to print it, then scan it, so it is going to loose clarity.
If you would like to see it, please email me with you email address, and I will send it to you.
Until later....
