I have a 1994 motor home with a F350, 20k miles. At times hard to start without repeated patting of the gas and turning over and over. Also has a intermittent problem of running rough and popping back thru the intake and has no power. In neutral it appears fine until you drop in drive and then it will studder and eventually pick up and run. Many times it will start to run better if the pedal is only lightly pushed until it clears. It may clear and run normal for another 500 miles before it acts up again.
New Plugs, Wires, changed the fuel filter last fall. Due to the large motor home chassis (38ft) none of the dealerships will work on the unit.

I am a newb here at FTE, and dont have much experience with ford trucks, but what you are describing sounds like a massive vacuum leak. Check all your intake boots, vacuum hoses etc. for looseness, cracks and leaks.
I am sure some more seasoned FTE's will also offer their input.
