I have a 95 Bronco that came with a 351 and an auto transmission. I swaped the auto transmission for an 88 Modle M5OD 5 speed manual. my question is, dose anyone know a web site where I can order an EEC-IV programed to work with a 351 and a 5 speed?
Are you having any drivability problems? One of the performance tricks is to use a computer for an automatic in a stick, since they are programmed a little more aggressively to make up for the losses through the slushbox. If it's running okay, I'd leave it. If it's not, the problem may be elsewhere.
If you have your heart set on changing it, look through our own classifieds, or try ol' pay n' pray Ebay. -TD
yes there are drivability problems. with both wiring harnesses unpluged from the auto trans, the truck wouldnt start. I robbed the P N R D L1 swiitch off the auto trans, put it in neutral and pluged it in. the truck starts but runs ruff. I put a jumper wire between two pins on the other harness and the engine smothed out some but idles high (1500-2000 Rpm) and check eng light comes on some times. thanks for the tips. I didnt know this site had a classified section.
i agree. something else is wrong because running an auto ecu with a manual wont set of a CEL. and the speed sensor/ABS stuff is all running off the rear diff for your year so that wouldnt be affected with this swap either. or find an ecu from an f250/351w/zf setup.
It's an electronically controlled transmission, I would say that yes, the transmission being gone will cause a check engine light. As kemicalburns said, it'll probably have to be an F250 computer since the 5.8 was not offered with a manual transmission in F150's.
