i have been haveing over heat problems this summer once i started pulling my boat. To make a long story short i am pretty sure ,after reading a post on page 2, that my radiator has blockage because of the 2 cans of stop leak poured into it last winter during an emergency heater core problem. And i do mean emergency lol. Anyway is there any thing that will un clog it without having to take it off. Ive been using prestone super flush a couple times and it is getting better. thanks
I had the same exact problem with a little toyota 4 runner I had. I too poured a couple cans of stop leak in during an emergency. By the time the weather warmed to 60 or so, I had over heat problems. I changed everything and even had the heads redone and tried to blow the block out and no luck. I gave up after countles dollars and time and just sold the vehicle. Hope you can have better results.
Well....Stop-Leak sets up pretty firm inside the radiator evidently. My radiator guy said it was almost like concrete. It seems to actually fix the radiator, the core tubes have to be rodded out. If you don't know, that it a process of gouging a metal rod down through the tubes in the core of the radiator, thus forcing the unwanted material out. A few months ago, I had another guy dip my radiator in a caustic solution to try and dissolve/flush out any blockage. I paid that guy $50, but that process didn't do anything toward solving the problem. Of course, my radiator was very stopped up almost 90% according to what the fellow that wound up repairing it said. Heck....no way anything else besides a Ford could even run in this condition, IMO. After rodding out the tubes however, the truck runs even better than ever, and doesn't show any sign of heating up.........
