cut out
ok heres the deal my truck has been cutting out if i give it gas at ideal or 2 rpms in that area if i give it gas it cuts out and then keeps going what could be causing this i checked the spark plug plug wires all those good things and cant find the problem help me please

this truck is an early 80s? if so it has a carb and from the sounds of it the accelerator pump or the power valve is bad. the accelerator pump is located on the front of the fuel bowl on the stock motorcraft 2bbl and has a rod from the throttle linkage attached to it. to check this just remove the air cleaner and look down the carb whiile moving the throttle linkage if gas squirts from the boosters it should be ok. the power valve is located under the fuel bowl and held in place by 4 screws no real good way to check it at home but is fairly cheap at any local parts store. hope this helps
