Can anyone tell me where I can get a Chilton's or other service manual for a 2004 F-250 Super Duty? Recently I pulled our RV (8000#'s)from Memphis, TN to the Grand Canyon. When we got there I had three issues witht the truck
1. There is a vacuum pump immediately behind the passanger side battery that was make a grindidng noise (intermittent). Sometimes it would run continously and sometimes it would shut off. Could not associate it with anything so I was concerned about it.
2. The glow plug light started staying on a lot longer than it had 10 - 15 seconds even after being run. Could it be the drier climate or altitude?
3. When pulling the trailer in tow/haul mode and it shifted out of overdrive between 2500 and 3000 RPM it would mike a low pitched whining noise that would come and go and I could change the pitch of it with the accelerator (I was running 65 so I doubt it was my turbo and the turbo makes a higher pitch wine) Torque Converter maybe?
I do not even want to get into how much help Babbit Ford in Flagstaff was (0) or the Ford roadside assitance number. A manual would have been nice at least to determine what all functions that vacuum pump controls.
By the way I disconnected it and was still able to shift my A/C from floor to vent to defrost. Ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff
