[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Dec-02 AT 12:59 PM (EST)]I seem to have some confusion over my VIN number. As I understand it the last six digits are the consecutive serial number. Should they all be numbers or should the first one be a letter? I'm trying to order a vent window frame and their apparently was a change in mid 77.
Thanks for any help. The number is F10HL032271 as I understand it with the only letters being the F,H and L. The VIN decoder doesn't recognize the year when entered this way.
I don't see the part on the online store. Did I miss it?

The only way I could get the decoder to produce a 77 model year was to replace the first of your numbers with the letter Y. Indeed, there are only 5 numbers at the end of the VIN's from these years.

AEO-000 started in August 77 which was the first month for the 78 model year.
Yours is obviously about a Feb 77 truck.
