To all of us who like to Fabricate instead of buying an off-the-shelf item. I had some DOM tubing left and did a little side job at work with a wire EDM on my lunch. I wanting something just for lights instead of the giant "Cow-Catcher" styles you see around.
I put some thought into how I wanted it. I left enough space so you can wipe the front bumper down after washing the truck without tearing your hand. I also kept the bar tight and finished the corners so you would not "spear" yourself.
For the new truck owners that have plastic bumpers this would be an alternative to drilling holes in your truck.
I should have posted this in the SuperDuty section but I tend to live here in the 6.0 forum.
I like your little light bar! Simple, but functional. Unfortunately I don't have an EDM... Alas, I really need to get out in the shop this summer and get creative myself. I pulled the RamseyRE1000 from my last truck and it's been sitting on the shop floor ever since. I need to get my winch installed on the 04'! But, other than the Warn hidden mount, there aren't too many options other than a big bull bar Moose catching front end for mounting a winch that keep the bumper in position. Hidden mounts don't allow unraveling a twisted cable either. And I don't know how the air bags are deployed, Bumper crush sensors? I guess I need to research that. Anyway, I'm thinking about using the tow hook frame mount points for a winch mount.
You powder coated your light bar.. And that looks nice. I've got a Line-X lined bed, I'm thinking of Line-X to cover the winch mount. Should be about as durable as anything.
