Shifter Problem
92 F-150 4x4, auto (E4OD)
Just recently I have noticed my shifter seems to be loose on the steering column. When I have the selector in Drive I can move it up and down so the selector is over the Neutral position and it is still in Drive. Also, when in Reverse the shifter doesn't go all the way down in the locked/resting position. I can usually have it in Drive and when I want to shift to Neutral I can just push up on the shifter but something isn't working right in there and I need to work a little to get it into Neutral.
No problems with the gears, certainly feels like it is inside the cab and not the transmission.
Any suggestions for this?

No experience with what you have described but I recently fixed a problem with a tilt column that was loose. I just removed the outer jacket and knocked a rolled pin back into place. Sounds like you could have a similar problem. Good luck, Karl....
