I'm the real packrat, I've got my wife beat 10 or 20 to 1. She's lucky to find a "logical" spot for anything, so I don't blame her when all she can do is cram it in there wherever. Besides, the house has only one open-walled closet and no attic or basement. One of the main reasons for The Truck was to make a few much-needed trips to the landfill.

I'm typically the messiest of the Roommates(sorry, no wife) and I get hassled for everything, but the one thing that I can keep up with is the garage. The tools have their home and the projects get done in order. Though the old usable parts pile is growing....
If you walk into your garage and find a box of Drapes or Christmas decarations that don't belong there, just reward her with a set of old cylinder heads in the kitchen. It will stop soon enough.

Dang, why didn't I think of that! I trip over those pesky christmas reindeer at least once a week...hmm, it would be a shame if something bad happened to them.
I started calling my neighbors workbench his wifes workbench. If he didn't have a vise still on it you would think it was a gardening bench.
My wife actually has this wierd idea that we should be able to park a car in our two car garage!!! If it wasn't for my motorcycle and parts, parts for the '77 SCS, boat seats, motor, trolling motor, battery, chargers, fishing tackle, lawn mower, edger, leaf blower, 6' x 4' x 3' tool box, couple of smaller tool boxes and various other things, she might be right!!!!!!!!!
I have the exact same thing at my house. The garage is so full I can't even work out there right now, but we did do some renovating this year so it will take some majior trips to the dump.
My wife and I are currently seperated, rapidly working on DIVORCE.
Was that heard loud and clear?
There are still clothes in the back of the garage, childrens toys, and odds and ends of things that have no business in a garage or workshop.
I have taken to the landfill many things of mine that were ruined by reason of having been left out in the yard while I was away, whilst the garage where they should have been was used for "STORAGE" while I was away.
GOT A CLEAR IMAGE?
She now is out of the picture, and it is HER stuff that is about to be put out in the yard.
I think the solution is simple, put up a sign that says MEN only, all others, NO ENTRY at the door, and another one that says automotive work only, no storage for crap.
Or better yet, a sign that says, you put your junk in my garage, I'll put an engine on the counter for you.
Well Me and My wife just bought Our 1st house. It has a 2 car detatched garage that was extended 10' more feet and it's awsome. There is a over head loft for storage and thats where all the X-Mas and the maybe We'll use stuff stashed up there. The only thing bad about the garage is that the LAUNDRY equipment is in MY garage! Takes up 1 whole wall!!(well part of 1 wall) She just reminded Me about the refridgerator, and compressor, and the sink(thats a must have in a garage by the way)I also have a computer in the garage with a like a little office area that really is cool. Comes in handy when ya looking for parts and questions as your doing the work right there. I really love the new house and My garage!

At our house we do it this way...Garage is mine, cept her spot for her car. Attic is free-choice storage...if you can haul it up the steps and find a spot. Big backyard shop is mine. Little backyard storage building is hers. Twice a year I go through the shared spaces and clean out, after announcing a cleanup drive. They know to stow it or lose it...anything that ain't stowed disappears over the gunwhales (crap overboard!) but no rescues allowed. Coming up on our 20th and no complaints yet.
Clear skies, bound for Shang-hai...
Well sorry to here of your woes here. My wife and I agreed years ago, the house is hers and the garage is mine. Her junk gets in my garage I wash my shop towels in her washing machine Needless to say I have only wash shop towels once.
(I have been forbidden from using her washer after I tried to help her with the laundry once. Anything can be washed with jeans, right?)
Here's one for you guys. My wife likes to throw things out. If I'm not careful, she will throw out something I really need. We've found a balance lately, and we've called a truce, but now one of my kids is going overseas to work for a few years and now we've got all her stuff to deal with.
Yep, cigarxtc, my big 2 car garage is too small too. One nice thing about our 'new" house, is the garage ceiling is very high, and I'm hanging all sorts of things from the ceiling with hooks and pulleys. Soon, I want to make a 4 pulley deal to raise my truck cap into a storage position. Anyone ever done this?
