Unless you've switched to buckets, our trucks have that nice big bench seat, but this also means no console. And I've noticed the glove box doesn't offer much room either. I have a nice truck box in my bed, but where does everyone put the little things that seem to find a place on the inside of a vehicle?? (e.g. change, pens, a gun, etc.) With my regular cab and a gas tank right behind my seat, I'm stuffed for room. Any responses will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
i have a supercab so i luckily have that extra room inside my cab, but in the front i mounted an ajustable cup holder to the floor, right where the hump is for the tranny, it has a small lil box type thing on it which i put change and pens..im sure you could mount some kind of box right there, mine has four wheel drive, but there is still a decent amount of room to mount a small box for storage.
the SMALL ammo cans oughta fit right to the right of the shifter, but if yours is a 2wd auto on the colum any old ammo can or console will work. tuffy makes a nice console that sits on the bench seat, but its kinda expensive.
I mhave a saddleman seat cover with the pockets on the front in one truck and the one with the rifle sheath in the other truck lmc has an over head console listed in there catalog other wise it's the dash not much storage space in these cabs
yea come to think of it i also have a seat cover with the pockets in the front of it, comes in handy to hold a spare pair of gloves, phone charger, small things like that..i think they are only like 30 bucks give or take a lil...
I have a center counsel that sits on the seat and is held by the center seatbelt. Got it at Kragen auto parts. It has an "icechest" built into it that holds a full 6pack, 2 cup holders and a misc. junk area along with storage inside for all my "stuff". I was going to buy one of the "shelf-its" but realized that the line of sight would be reduced above.
Dak
Does the seat back fold forward in the regular cab trucks? If so, there used to be a company that offered a storage pouch that mounted in the hollow of the seat back. Had pockets and could hold small items like hand tools and stuff. Might be able to make one yourself.
yeahm the seat folds forward, even on the highbots with the gas tank there. I had one of those pouches behind the seat on my highboy, just have to remember where you put the stuff... also had the saddleman seat cover, the pockets were always full...
I just use my back seat. A guy I knew who had an old 70's Ford had a shelf of some sort installed up high, by the top of the windshield. It looked like something that might be some in JC Whitney catalogs. He had a CB in the center and then all kinds of other junk in the rest of it. I don't remember how it affected the sun visors but it didn't obstruct view at all and was slanted to keep stuff in there so it wouldn't spill out while you drive.

That sounds like a Whitney deal. I believe the visors were relocated to the bottom of the "console" but it depends how tall you are as to whether it affects view... some of us actaully have to watch that even on the trucks...

Well come join the sub-six club and it won't be a problem.
How about a ceiling mounted center console for holding misc little junk, like the newer SUV's use? I've seen some nice sub-woofer boxes built to fit behind the seats on those trucks too so provided you don't have an in-cab gas tank I'd think there would be a fair amount of room for bigger stuff back there plus it would be out of sight.
