Hi all, sorry if this has been asked, I looked and couldnt find anything on it.....I have a 2004 F350 CC LB Lariat.........the AC just doesnt seem to be as cold as my car or suv. Have had the dealership check it out, and of course they say its working the correct way it should. Anyone else have this issue, and if so what did you find out?
If you have the automatic air, make sure and set the temp to the lowest setting, 60 degrees. I had mine on 70 for a while and noticed that I wasn't getting the cold air. I thought that a setting on 70 meant that it would blow the coldest air until the truck got down to 70 and then it would adjust the blower or temp. I think I was wrong about that and instead I was getting warmer air.
The only issue I have ever had was with my A/C. It worked great in recirculate mode. In normal mode while at idle the vent temp would increase by 8 - 10 degrees. Dealer reprogrammed and it helped some but still not quite were I thought it should.
Then by some mischievous miricle...my EGR Valve plug fell off. A side benefit of this miracle is the A/C started working pretty darned good. Couldn't tell you why, it just did.
Others, back then, stated like results when their EGR Valves became benign.
I had mine checked and it does put out 44 in the max setting and an outside temp of 90. Problem is the size of our trucks - too big for the Focus a/c. In my wifes Focus I have to put the dial almost to where the red starts or I will freeze and my glasses frost up when I get out. Will never cool a drink in our turck.
It is 102 degrees today (here & now) at the edge of the desert... But low 14% humidity. I have the manual controls and don't use the recirculate mode. If my vehicle is at idle & stopped, the a/c will lag behind- If I am driving, I actually have to adjust the temp warmer as it too cold...
FYI I park in the shade & also keep one vent pointed at my pants
I figured that it was important information which needed to be diplomatically mentioned...
And for the record: The 102 degree reading is according to the National Weather Service (deemed a reliable source) Not according to the overhead LOM which is currently at 104
04F350,
This afternoon I took some readings in my CC which you should check against your a/c discharge temps which may help determine whether or not your truck is working correctly. I took these readings during a 2 mile short drive-
Official outside temp: 102 & sunny
Relative humidity: 14% (quite dry)
Discharge temp on max a/c: 46.3
Discharge temp on reg a/c: 47.8
Overhead LOM reading: 107
Given that these discharge temps were during a short drive, I genuinely believe the discharge was probably 44-46 degrees during my 18 mile drive home...When the LOM was reading 108. Keep in mind, higher humidity levels will have a significant negative effect on the vehicle's a/c. Drier air is easier to cool than moist air. I hope these numbers/info is helpful-
