hey it worked i put the breaker bar on the drivers side frame and took about three times but it worked and im not dead...or have a broken ankle tommorrow i will be pulling off my harmonic ballancer to get to my timing cover to check my chain i will keep posting how i am coming along thanks for all the help couldnt have done it without it well might have broke a breaker bar.....haha thanks
just to let you know there is no timing chain on a 300 six there is the two gears my cam gear is missing five teeth so time to replace that but in the meanwhile i need to figure out how to get the oil pan out of the truck without it hitting on the crossmember. any ideas welcome the navy pays for are medical.........lol
Jack'r up.........is the only way I know how. Been there with a 302 before. It can be done. Loosen mount stud, jack motor and place 2x4 under mount to support motor, and remove jack to make room to work again.
So far not had to touch any of my FE's while IN truck.
Another option would be to bump the engine around to tdc remove the sparkplug look and see if the piston is up then turn the engine forwards enough to lower the piston about two inches then insert some clean rope put as much in the hole as you can then turn the crank till the piston compacts the the rope this is going to keep the engine from turning this is not the best way to do it yes it could damage the insert bend the rod but it's going to be a lot SAFER than the pry bar / starter method this is a old motorcycle trick good luck.I went back to delete this tread but don't know how I did not notice there were two pages when I posted I see you got the bolt out.
