First off, did it start and run prior to this tune-up? Was there a particular reason for changing anything at all?

I'd be looking for spark at the coil first. Pull the center wire out of the cap, and with a well insulated glove and insulated pair of pliers, hold it just above a good ground under the hood while someone turns the engine over for you. Be careful not to touch any of the sheetmetal while doing this.(Gives you a good jolt)

You should see a nice white/orange spark jump from the wire to the ground.

If there's spark there, make sure all wires are firmly seated into the cap, and check for spark at the plug end of the wire.

If you've got spark at both ends, it could be a fuel related problem.

I have seen people put the spark plug wires on in the wrong direction on the cap in other words the oppisite direction of rotor rotation and that will cause a not start situation identical to yours so check to see if you may have done that. remember the ford distributor turns oppisite of "ahhum" chevys.

Did you replace the distributor cap AND rotor? Can't change one without the other, unless you are really going cheap (usually a matched set). I know it's a long shot, but you didn't mention changing the rotor.

You can go as far as changing two rotors to one distributor cap, I don't like to do it though, but changing the cap without the rotor ....

Pretty easy to forget to replace the rotor, I've done that one. Also I pinched a point wire under the cap once.
