t-18/np205

hello everyone, been reading here for so long feel like I know everyone.I've done searches and have found lots of info on the t-18 but have yet to find out what I'm wanting.
I have a 2wd t-18 out of a 86 f-150 300 six,I want to mate it to my np205 t-case that is currently bolted to my c-6 in my 1973-9 f-250 that started life as a highboy.
a fellow fte member let me know I couldn't use my auto adapter, thanks amtek.
so what parts do I need to get these 2 together?output shaft, diff adapter, diff trans?
thanks

You need the output shaft for a t-18 4x4 set up as well. It would be far cheaper and easier to just buy a t-18 from a 4x4 truck and use it. I use to have a t-18 adapter and had it been sitting around for years but it has been moved on now. You may even just try to find a 435 trans and run it out of a 4x4 truck of course.

I know there are two different lenght adapters for the C6 set up but I am not sure if this applies to the 4-speed trans or not. Then you have the all by it's self 203 adaptor.

thanks,i got the trans as a bonus when junking a truck it's in good shape also.I was going to pull it apart and put a bearing and seal kit in it so replacing the rear shaft is not a problem.is that the only diff between the 2,output shaft and adapter?to tell the truth I would like to have a zf 5 spd but I've got to spread the money around on my truck.I still have a few other big projects planned.the reason I want the stick is beacause my truck is a 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 302 and 35's,the low leaves something to be desired.changing the motor is not a option, gonna stay with the 302,got some stuff in the making for it.
I'm not a rock racer or mud bogger but do wheel often and would like a better low range than what the auto has.
i could probably find the parts i need just don't know what they would be,hoping to get a jump on this so I don't have everything apart for weeks or months searching.

I've seen complete 435 trans with a 205 case for $200 to $300. By the time you by the adapter and the out put shaft you may as well buy a 4x4 trans because the output shaft and adapter will cost more than the trans itself. Most people will sell the t-18 or 435 trans by them selves and sell the case seperate. Now your looking at well under $200 for a trans with the correct adapter. PM me and I will direct you to a few other sites that you can search around for what you need.

The small block ZF is a tough one to find. I have had two of them and sold them. I paid $100 for one and $150 for the other both in good shape. I was very lucky to find them. I now have a big block ZF from a 460 to put in my 78 bronco which will be getting a 460. It's under going a frame off resto.

Now that I think about it I know of a parts truck that has a small block 4 speed set up in it. The 4x4 truck had a 300 6cly in it. It's a 78/79 model 3/4 ton. If you want I can try to get you a price on the trans. bob

thanks for the offer but I've got a few pals that work at a couple yards can get me stuff cheap.
I have found a 4x4 t18 with a 205 but it has a hole in the side of it where it blew a front driveshaft and then it was driven and messed up pretty bad.I haven't seen it to verify it but i can have everything but the t-case.it's a little bit of a drive to get there and I wanted to know if the parts interchange between the 2wd and 4wd.
I'm only gonna have 20 in gas and the price of a seal and bearing kit in it.
why the 435?the t18 should be plenty strong enuff.and the diff in 1st really isn't a factor for me.

Either the t-18 or the 435. It's just habit to type the 435 all the time and I see more of them for sale than I do t-18. The broken trans will have the output shaft you need and everything should swap from one to the other.

Can't go wrong for the price. I can always find time to pick parts up but I don't always have cash for parts.
