Idler Air Controller repair

Is there a way to repair the idler air controller on my 89 EFI 302? I dont have the 70 or so dollars to replace it and need to get the truck running before my nephew comes down(gonna take him wheelin for the first time).

You can try cleaning it, but if it is electrically open or shorted, then it has to be replaced.
