Dashboard upkeep

As some of you may know, I just purchased a 1973 F 100 which is in great shape. I want to make sure it stays that way and so I have a question about the dash.

What is the best way to keep the dash exposed and free of cracks. Will waxing it protect it from the suns damaging rays? Will Armor-All be a better alternative? I've heard that once you appy Armor-All on the dash, it must continously be applied otherwise the dash will crack. What do you all think?

What are some of the ways in which you have kept your dashboards in top shape? Unfortunately I can not keep my pick-up in a garage.

thanks

Well wax is good for any painted surface but will make it shinnier. I quit using Armoral as I understand it is like a drug for vinyl. If you don't keep using it it dries out even worse. I'm using 303 protectant now on the advice of Extang tonno covers.

Welcome To FTE Jose'

Get a sun shade for your windshield.

The best fold-up shades I have found are in the states.

I also use a product called : Protecto.
It is less harsh then armour-all.

You can also use a leather/vinyl conditioned called "The Tannery".
This works very well and does not leave a residue or whitening agent.

You could also go through the appearance forum for other options.

My truck had a fitted peice of carpet on the dash when I bought it. I've learned to love it because it reduces glare and heat in the summer, and is easy to remove in the winter(for defrost). Plus you can just use mild detergent and warm water to clean it.
