I have quite a bit of power steering fluid leaking from my 1991 Ford Explorer EB 4.0L 4x4...Some is pooling on top of the cap and some is dripping off of the tie rod. What components make up the steering for the power steering in the vehicle? What else might be leaking besides the pump or hoses?
Sounds like it poured out the top of the resevoir. Did you turn the wheel hard to one side with out the motor on? This will over pressurize the sytem and pump fluid out the top.
Other thing is the pressure relief valve in the system. Not sure about yours but my 93 has a sensor that feedsback to the computer. Running a KOER test looks for this pressure relief. You can get a code reader and run this test to see if the pressure relief valve is working or not.
