Headlight trim fading

Hey, i have a 97 f250 with the factory plastic chrome around the lights and on the grille. right under the gap between the fender and hood, the "chrome" looks to be oxidizing (correct term?). This is also starting to happen on the "chrome" grille front and its kinda starting to bother me. I love my truck and i hate looking at two big ugly brown spots right on the front "chrome". Is there anything to clean that off, or is it permanent? What are some good places to get replacements for cheap? thanks alot.

Salvage yard would be the best place to look for replacements. As far as helping it out, does it look like it's been eaten away or is it buildup? Might try just to polish it out.. don't know how much it would help, but it's worth a shot.

im not sure if its build up or corrosion, because its rough to the touch and it feels like you should be able to scratch it away, but you cant, but it also looks like the true color of the plastic is starting to show through. ive been looking for some salvage yards in my area, but either they're closed on weekends when im free, or they dont have my year truck in there. oh well, i guess ill continue the hunt. thanks.
