Well, it finally happened. all that care in parking lots and not parking close to other vehicles... Somebody backed into my '03 and took out the right fog light, bumper cover and front fender. The estimate is $2200. She left me a note and her insurance is covering it all, but what a drag.
Dang, that sucks! For that much money you should get the whole bottom end painted to match the rest of your truck and maybe a custom bumper, since her insurance is paying for it, that is.
Well, I wouldn't suggest doing anything unscrupulous here in public, but it's been done before. All it takes is a body shop willing to work a little magic with the "actual" parts that go on the car and the "ordered" parts that the insurance company is paying for. Most times they won't care anyways, they are paying the money out regardless, and it's no difference to the body shop. Just have to get a little "creative". Either way, sorry to hear about your truck! Hope you get it fixed up right.
I often sit out in the truck when my mom goes into the store, so i have caught FOUR people hitting our vehicle, and running off, in the last two years. I got every one of their plate numbers, two of them actually went into the store, and came back out. they insisted that they didnt hit the car, and there was no damage. Ive even been hit by a drunk driver, who stuck her tounge out at me and drove off, got her plate too. I try my hardest not to believe stereotypes against women drivers, but every single one was a woman...
Lead Foot, if you consider that half of drivers in general are women, the fact that 4 out of 4 drivers who happened to hit your car are women is not that much of a statistical anomaly. MOREOVER, if you consider that in the average store parking lot there is most likely a much larger percentage of women drivers (say 60-75, depending on the time of day and type of store) this 4 out of 4 is even more probable.
most people won't leave a note! i had a 01 durango brand new i parked it far away from every one and i came out and some idiot removed the whole drivers side. the fenders were laying on the ground it was 9,000.00 in damage. the security video showed some jackass spinning douts in the parking lot in his lifted truck and he lost control and went right in to my truck. about 3 weeks after getting it fixed i was in the drive thru at BK and the guy in front of me decides he wants to back up and he floors it right into me, he never even looked behind him.
I can't believe she left a note... that is AWESOME!!! Send her a card to thank her. There aren't enough honest people in the world like that!!!!!!
I'm not sending her a thank you card. She owned up to her ethical and legal responsibility and that does not relieve her from the fact that she should have been watching where she was going in the first place. I certainly would have left a note if I had hit her car. What goes around comes around.
Did you catch the jackass that hit your Durango? I would own his truck for that crap!
never did , but they guy who hit me in the driv thru had the nerve to say i rear ended him! he then proceded to hold his neck like it was broken when the cops arrived. its a good thing they had a camera in the drive thru it clearly showed him plowing into me and it also showed his brake lights never came on.
