Is the vibration everyone is talking about appear at around 45-75 where the truck vibrates, and the bed is vibrating at the same frequency? It sometimes does it, sometimes not, and if it does it, it tends to come and go...
If it is, is there some sort of bulletin that everyone was talking about with regards to tires?
The bed just shakes dude. How long have you had your truck? It bothered me for about a month, but now I don't even notice it. I honestly don't think it is going anywhere.
Been driving mine for about 9 months now. 52,000 miles! It does shake, but I was reading here today (since I stumbled onto the site) about a vibration problem, and wondered if this is what everyone is talking about.
It's enough to shake the truck- wondered if the truck was shaking the bed, or if the bed was shaking the truck.
Just a newbie lookin' for info.
Although I'll admit, I still watch the bed shake and think WTF? I'm on a pretty smooth road, the bumps have no rhythm, but my bed will start shaking, and the wheel pulsing for no apparent reason for a while. Then I'll slow down for something, speed up , and it's gone.
I don't think the bed shaking is causing the vibration that some people are having. My bed will shake, but my truck doesn't vibrate. I think that this has been attributed to the stiffer frame, etc. of the new design.
I'm sorry if I seemed short, I didn't realize that your truck was vibrating also. Some people also complain about the vibration with the window down - which is wind buffeting - and I have had other vehicles do this as well.
Mallox - I recently purchased an '05 SCREW and it is my 1st truck. The 1st time I looked in the rear view mirror and saw my bed "dancing" I just about pulled over to make certain it wasn't coming off! But now that I've noticed it and on many other trucks too - it just seems normal. You sound as if you may have an issue with the tire/wheel that is vibrating at certain speeds. Could be a bad tire, or just an out of balance tire or even a wheel bearing....you might want to have it checked out. Has that wheel/tire been damaged in the past?
Will do- I did put a bollt into the bed brace to the rear of the wheel well, it was missing, but that didn't have anything to do with it- I'l let you know- I have had the wheels balanced before, but that was to cure constant vibes at about 70 mph.
Will be getting new tires pretty soon, will do an alignment and balance- I'll post the results!
The vibration does come and go at first. It will get steadily more consistant until it is all the time at those speeds. There are a couple of TSB's for this problem, the first being tires, then rear end and driveshaft replacement. Try turning off the OD and see if it goes away, then have your dealer try and tell you it is a tire problem. Ford bought my 04 F-150 Scab back in April 04. Couldn't fix this among other problems. Look under "vibration" in this forum, the TSB is there.
