Ford Mechanics?

Hello. I've got a 1994 F250 4x4 w/5.8L. I need to replace stator/pickup which is inside distributor. I've pulled the distributor and I've tapped the roll pin out of the gear at bottom of distributor shaft. The gear still doesn't move. Is this gear pressed on or is there another way to get at the stator other than by pulling the dist shaft out thru the top of dist. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks
Jim

I appreciate the response. Now I've got a tough one for you. My 1994 F250 died while driving at about 30mph. No spark coming out of coil. I have power to the coil when cranking over or in the run position but no spark. I replaced the coil - still nothing. I tested the ICM and although it tested OK Ireplaced it anyway. Still no spark out of coil. I replaced stator/pickup. No spark. I've replaced the EEC-IV. Still no spark. I can't think of anything else to test or replace. If you have any thoughts on this I'd like to hear them. Thanks.

I think thats what I meant by ICM. The elect device mounted on the left (drivers) fender attached to the heat sink. I can't think of anything else that would stop the coil from secondary spark. If you can think of something I've missed let me know. Thanks

code reader comes up 111 which is the all OK. I've checked the wires and harnesses 3-4 times they look OK. I've had someone else crank ignition while I wiggled every wire I could get my hans on. I wiggled pretty hard. I pulled the ignition switch and wiggled the wires that were visible in and around column. Any other thoughts appreciated.

Check the negative side of the coil primary. With the key on, but engine not being cranked, it should be at battery voltage. If it is at ground, it is possible that the tach wire is short circuited. This will prevent the TFI from interrupting power to the coil, which will then cause a no-spark.

Try disconnecting the SPOUT jumper near the ICM/TFI module. If the SPOUT signal is shorted to something else, it can interfere with the PIP signal going to the TFI. Removing the SPOUT jumper isolates the engine computer from the ignition system.

Listen carefully to the sound of the fuel pump. (I know, you can't hear it over the noise of the starter). But just as you release the key from a start attempt, you should hear the whine of the electric fuel pump for 1 second or so as the starter spins down. If you don't hear the pump, the fuel pump irelay is not being engaged by the computer because the computer is not seeing PIP from the the TFI module.

Do a search for some of my old posts. Look for "get a cheap $4.00 test light". I walk through how to diagnose the primary circuit in the TFI.
