I have started to hear an injector knock on my 99 I believe. It doesn't do it all the time, but more so when its at operating temperature. Once I know for sure that its an injector I will be changing them all out as the truck has 110k on it. My question is how much of an advantage/ disadvantage would I have if I went with some swamps or beans, and whats the cost comparison as to stock injectors? I already have the tymar intake, 4 inch MBRP exhaust, gauges and predator, so would just like a little feedback on the injector issues.
Thanks.
ford had a problem with there #8 injector producing a kackle noise and they redesigned the # 8 injector to stop this problem. but i an not 100% sure if it pertained to the 99.
Well as far as cost comparison, the modded injectors will be cheaper by far than buying injectors from Ford, if you get a set of stage I's. Performance is greatly improved.
I can't think of any disadvantages to aftermarket injectors except for maybe a heavy right foot... They're the only way to go in my opinion. They're less expensive and give better performance. I would suggest at least installing the tugger or surecure kit in the tranny though. Just my 2 cents.
I think that I will probably go with the stage 1's. I already have the full tugger, shift kit, sonnax complete valve body etc in the tranny so that shouldn't be a problem. The funny part about this knock is that it is sounding like the #3 or #4 cylinder, but I may be wrong and it has never made this noise until the last week and like I said it only happens sometimes.
Thanks for the replies, any information is good information.
