Best clutch kit?
Time to change the clutch on my '73 F-100 302 with 3 speed. I haven't done a clutch in a number of years, and have noticed that most parts are sold in kits now (it was all seperate parts when I was younger). I want a diaphram plate and a piolet bearing in any kit. Who makes the best kit with these parts included, and what's the best price? Who carries what you might suggest? Thanks!

Your local parts store should have the kits that have a disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and alignment tool. Some even have pilot bearings. Have your flywheel resurfaced. Hays and CenterForce are very good brands but any major brand should work fine. You can also get kits from Jegs and Summit.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Dec-02 AT 01:09 AM (EST)]Thanks guys. Yea, I know about the flywheel. I was basically asking about a good but not too expensive brand that isn't a rebuild and that might include the alignment tool and piolet. Hays and the others are a bit too pricy for this old truck.

Borg-Warner makes,(at least used to) make a reasonably priced kit, called "Power Brute" I think, top quality, Disc, Pressure Plate,Throwout bearing, last setup I bought was around $150.00, Please do yourself a BIG favor, and don't put rebuilt crap in your truck if you plan on keeping it a while, you'll be sorry.
